Many people wonder what a wholesome diet can look like. The Internet and advertising offer such a variety of information that it is difficult to keep track.
The German Nutrition Society (DGE) has summarized current scientific findings in simple rules.
Based on these rules, we have compiled 9 tips for a wholesome diet for you, which you can easily and without much effort adopt in everyday life – just try it out!
Enjoy variety

No food alone contains all the nutrients. The more varied the food, the lower the risk of an unbalanced diet.
“5 a day”

Every day, enjoy at least 3 servings of vegetables (about 400 g) and 2 servings of fruit (about 250 g). For a complete diet, vegetables and fruits should be the largest food group in terms of quantity.
Animal products & Cereals

Dairy products such as yogurt and cheese can be enjoyed daily, fish is better eaten only once or twice a week, and meat no more than 300 to 600 g per week. For cereal products, the whole grain variety is the best choice.
Vegetable oil

It is better to use vegetable oils, which have more unsaturated fatty acids. Here the choice is wide: e.g. rapeseed oil, walnut oil, linseed oil or olive oil are a good choice.
Reduce sugar and salt

Use sugar and salt sparingly. It is best to creatively use delicious herbs and spices.
Drink plenty

Every body needs fluids. Therefore, drink about 1.5 liters every day, preferably water.
Tasty and gentle

It is best to cook food as long as necessary and as short as possible, using little water and fat. Gentle preparation preserves the natural flavor and protects the nutrients.
Take your time and enjoy

Even in stressful everyday life, you should take a break and not eat on the side. Slow, conscious eating promotes enjoyment and the feeling of satiety.
Sufficient exercise

A wholesome diet and physical activity go hand in hand. This includes not only regular exercise, but also an active everyday life: stairs instead of elevator, bike instead of car or a nice walk to dean&david 😉
